So had texts from MyCRS.co.uk about 3 bill

I have been getting a lot of calls a debt collection company recently regards a 3 bill or so they say and today I got an SMS from them with link and amount to pay. Now I have spoken to 3 and they say I have nothing outstanding and additionally I haven't been with 3 for about 7 years! But these people have all my details - DOB, address, mobile etc - the bill itself is tiny but I smell a scam. I am not engaging with them but was wondering if anyone else has come across them?

Comments

  • Not come across them but a 30 second search on the old google shows they are a legit debt collection company, contact them and ask for proof of the debt, that would be a good start.
  • My father also keeps getting texts from them, for an outstanding 3 bill, but he's not even on 3. not sure how I can get them to stop sending messages as you have to register on their site before you can even talk to anyone, as there is no telephone number anywh

just lt because the text says from mycrs does not mean it is from them.

any reputable debt collection agency that had your number would call you.

dont click on any link. if they call you dont give bank details over the phone - ask them for their address and say you will post a cheque for the amount owed once they have written to you with proof of the debt.

if you are able, record any calls and / ormake contemporaneous notes.

    There's this : Three Customer Service - Free Contact Number 0333 338 1001

Isn't it possible to block the texts on your father's phone? Or just delete immediately. Texts like this are a nuisance but they'll stop eventually. In my experience, anyway.

  • About 18 months ago i got 2 or 3 a week from mycrs saying i owed £302.51 which was owed to TalkTalk.I have never had an account or bought anything from TalkTalk. After about 9 months i stopped getting these texts to my mobile. This August they have started again,i have linked my mobile to my PC so am able to cut and paste these texts which i then forward to report@phishing.co.uk.I have also contacted TalkTalk and told them that someone is using their name in scam text messages and again forwarded them the texts, but they completely miss the point.I also did do a google search for crs(before i had the phone link on the comp.) i put in the ref. no. and there is no record of me on their system.

This thread is two years old, the OP hasn't been active on here for over a year.

Basic rule of thumb with debt collection, unless they write to you, you can ignore all other contact.

If they do bother to write, respond with the "provit letter" available from the sticky thread on debt free wannabee.

See what they come back to you with.
