Section 75? - item lost in post

in Credit cards
I bought a laptop on a credit card and returned it for repair within 6 months of purchase. The supplier organised collection with Royal Mail but the laptop was lost before it reached the supplier.
Who is responsible for replacing or refunding here and if all else fails, can I claim under section 75?

If they organised collection, then it's their responsibility. Do you still have a collection receipt?
Section 75 gives you the same rights against the card provider as the retailer.0 -
I have a hand written receipt on a card that a collection was made. I also took a photo of the driver showing his tablet with my collection details on it.
When the postie arrived to collect, I assumed he would put an address sticker on the box but he said he would do that when he got back to the depot. I didn’t like the idea so insisted he gave a receipt and that I wanted to see the screen on his tablet which I photographed him holding. He was a nice bloke and accommodated but I insisted because Royal Mail have lost a parcel of mine before. On that occasion it was me sending so I had insured and was able to claim back on that.
on this occasion the supplier organised collection.0 -
As it was the supplier organising and paying the courier, then the courier company probably won't even speak to you as you are not the customer.
The supplier should claim against the courier company and forward any payment onto you.
You could try a S75 against the card for the original purchase and a faulty item supplied but that has nothing to do with the return. It has been 6 months so expect the CC to ask questions.
I would ignore the 'lost in post' - that is not your problem. You handed the laptop over to the supplier's courier and got a receipt. Your responsibility ends there.
If you go for S75 the keep on the narrow line of "faulty laptop / supplier asked for it to be sent back for repair / you did this / supplier is refusing the return your laptop". Don't even get involved about what the supplier's courier did with it.0
