Advice on suspected underpowered Lamona hobs/oven

Hi there.
Just moved into a new flat which has an electric Lamona LM1216 Hob, and an electric Lamona LMS3200 Oven.
They take absolutely ages to heat up, and I want to know if I'm going crazy or not.
We like to fry things sometimes, and we can barely get a pot of vegetable oil to 180 C on the big hob, nevermind trying to keep the temperature there once we've put the food in.
The oven takes about half an hour to heat up to 200 C.
Surely this can't be normal/typical of these electric/lamona appliances, right?
Am I crazy?

Just found a picture of the hob.... Ewww.... I picked up a hob like that for my (new) kitchen. In less than a week, I had ripped it out and replaced with an induction hob. Those stainless steel hobs are dirt cheap, take [deleted] ages to heat up, and hold on to heat so you can't turn them down quickly should a pan boil over.
Can't comment on the oven, but 20 minutes or so sounds about right for my oven to heat up.
Update - 17 minutes from cold to ~200°C - This is for a basic Indesit built-in fan oven.

Howden's own brand.  My parents had them in their refurbished kitchen and ripped them out after 3 years.

The oven was hopeless, the microwave overheated despite supposedly being in the correct Howden's cabinet.

    Both replaced with Bosch.

I read somewhere that Lamona is actually manufactured by Beko.  We have a Lamona double oven which was installed a couple of years ago and I am seriously considering changing it.  As the OP is discovering, it takes and eternity to heat up, my old free standing cooker was always up to temperature within 10 minutes, and the oven temperature varies wildly.  I have an oven thermometer hanging inside the door and, although I accept it won't be 100% accurate, with temperature set at 180, the indicator light goes out at anything between 150 and 200!  I don't have an electric hob but coincidentally I was talking to my brother-in-law at the weekend and he was moaning about the Lamona electric hob having the same issues.

30 minutes for an oven to heat up to 200C seems a bit rubbish to me.  My AEG one can do it in about 12 minutes, and it's the sort of oven that plugs into a 13A socket - not exactly massively powerful.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • Lamona are well known for being cheap, nasty and dangerous (my mum's lamona dishwasher caught fire, and so did the replacement one)
Sadly they continue to be popular due to the healthy commission earned by kitchen fitters when selling this Howdens tat.
