It’s been empty for a year.  It is insured.  Will be left now until another buyer is found - great, right in the middle of a pandemic/recession.
Has the insurer been informed the house is empty?  Many policies have a limit on how long a property can be left empty.  Typically 30 days I believe.  Just a thought.

and the property has  to be checked once a week with some companies, when selling mother's there was a lovely neighbour who offered to do this - 5mins once a week, walked round the outside, walked round the inside - tick on a list if the insurance company ever needed evidence
  • I’ve taken legal advice and solicitor thinks we should remove her as executor as she’s clearly not doing her job.  He also recommended mediation first.  I’m utterly exhausted with her and feel like she’d really enjoy the drama of a court case, regardless of the expense.  I’m going to take a breather  for a while (we’ve lost the buyer now).  She will never get her inheritance unless I say so.  She’s broke and I’m not.  If another sale comes along it will under my terms or no sale.  Right now my sanity and mental health are more important than a 12 court battle.  Thank you everyone for your advice.  Will update periodically.
