Hello,

We made a deposit payment by Barclaycard to Holiday cottages in February of this year for a family break in the UK for October this year. Holiday cottages have suggested the final payment is due shortly, however we have concerns about elderly members of the party not being able to make the October date due to isolating etc, I don't really want to settle the final amount now when we may not have all the party members attending. Cancelling will loose all our deposit Holiday cottages have suggested, do you know if I have an opportunity to claim our deposit back with the help of Barclaycard or any other advise?
Regards Julian

How much is the deposit? I suspect the answer is...check your T&Cs about whether you can claim your deposit back from Holiday Cottages, but I suspect not. Not paying the balance is tantamount to you cancelling, and you'd forfeit the deposit.

Hi japitts, thanks for your reply, the original deposit was £1286, paid in Feb. The frustrating part is potential total loss of deposit or another £500 if we choose to move the date to next year. I just wondered if my Barclaycard would support me claiming this deposit back. So we can choose to book when things have settled down. But as you said likely in the T & C’s so I’m going to be a bit stuck. Unless we fork out another £500 which worries me in case I need to change again. Would you think it’s work pursuing this with Barclaycard.Regards

Barclaycard won't repay you the deposit, as neither they nor the provider have done anything wrong.

Check your terms for cancellation and postponement rights.

Disinclination to travel is not a valid reason to claim a refund.
Isolation is ended currently. What the  position will be in October nobody knows.
