I note today the fco updated their page 27th, they now say advise against travel to Spain and the islands inc the canaries! You need to update your page. So does this mean my insurance will be void if I do travel? Does this mean I can now get a refund on flights and accommodation? Thanks

Generally insurance will be void if you travel against FCO advise.
Refunds/transfer depends on what you booked, how (package?) and when.

I'm in the same boat. Was due to fly to Lanzarote on 5th Aug with Easyjet. Hotel was a separate booking where I have paid for 1 night.

Edit: This was booked Cyber Monday last November and I have travel insurance that was taken out last August.
  • I have friends due to travel first thing tomorrow to Tenerife and are panicking. Contacting their tour operator and insurance company is impossible this time of night.

I am in the same boat BUT this world wide pandemic has been on going for over 6 months ,what do people expect? most people are working from home or on furlough yet expect travel agents, insurance companies and everyone else involved in the travel industry to be available at the drop of a hat to sort out their travel plans.

I do agree with what you are saying, but in this connected world it isn't difficult to immediately update their websites regarding the latest travel advise for their customers and not to hide behind their switched off telephone lines. Surely they have a duty to monitor the current situation and immediately respond to government travel advice.
