School trip refund

Hi, I am trying time get a refund from my sons school for a London trip that was arranged for march. The school says they are chasing the insurers but are struggling to get refund. I paid through the parent pay app, do I have any rights? It was £300 and I know other parents are struggling to get refunds from this school. Thanks for any help.

Yes you can push it.Yes the school can then ban you from any trips or activities.Decide which is more importyant for you and go that way.(Not saying they will, just they can).1

What's the insurance company name?0

They won't give insurance name0

If the money has already been paid over to whoever, they simply won't have the money to refund everyone. Be patient is my advice.1

In my view you are being patient. In my (untrained) view you have a right to a refund. You have paid for a service and not received it.
The idea that you or your child will be blacklisted from future trips is not based on reality. Actually, I think school trips may themselves be a casualty of the crisis. Work with the school, but be clear (in writing) that you expect your money back.1 -
Maybe get one parent to do a joint letter on behalf of everyone.1

I have joined forces with another parent who is also emailing school (it was only a small group of around 12 pupils going on trip) thank you for any advice as this isn't something I'm used to doing!0

Unfortunately the school does not have your money and therefore if you pursue them for it back, keep in mind you are taking money away from already hugely stretched school budgets.
By all means pursue this course of action but don't complain if the school has to make cuts as a result of paying out all of these parents money they don't even have.
Your beef here is with the travel company and the insurers, not the school.0 -
Respectfully i disagree with the above post. I need to repeat, I am a layperson, not a professional in relation to such matters. I did work in schools all my working life. Schools have changed greatly since I left if they are no longer interested in working with parents and carers, and are solely concerned with budgets. The school budget is not your concern. The school ( i assume) promoted the trip to parents. The school needs to repay you, either directly, or via restitution from the travel company or trip insurers.0

The OP said the school are pursuing the insurers.43722 said:Respectfully i disagree with the above post. I need to repeat, I am a layperson, not a professional in relation to such matters. Is the trip with PGL? Plenty publicity about them not refunding.0
