Is there any insurance for a UK based holiday in the event that we have to self-isolate and cancel?

We are planning to book a cottage or caravan in Devon for August which looks like it will be costing £1,000. It would be with a private owner, so not a tour operator or holiday firm which might offer a degree of flexibility.  I'm assuming a private owner, given the economic climate and loss of earnings they would have already suffered this summer,  would be unlikely to offer a refund if we developed covid symptoms and couldn't travel. They simply wouldn't be able to run a business like that, would they? That kind of money is a lot to lose if one of us does get symptoms or is told by Track and Trace to self isolate. Now, whilst I'm hoping this doesn't happen, there is always a possibility. So I'm curious to know if there anywhere to buy insurance to protect against the cancellation of UK travel plans due to covid-19?

There are insurers offering COVID cover but not many, and it’ll still be the same cover as you would buy for your typical abroad cover I would have thought.
  • Yes, I've noticed a couple are offering covid cover if you fall ill abroad and need medical assistance in a foreign hospital, but this is specifically for cancelling UK booked travel plans if we need to self-isolate which is quite different. Must be a situation many of us will find ourselves over next few months.
  • Can anyone help?

It might be worth phoning Staysure and checking their cancellation cover for UK:

Am not sure you age but I had an email from Saga for over 50's regarding covid cover - whether it covers UK not sure or just overseas....but they did offer UK based holiday stays insurance prior to covid so would think they do.
  • Have looked at Saga, Post Office and others but their covid cover offers assistance in a foreign hospital if you fall ill while abroad which isn't applicable with a holiday cottage in the south west.
Saga says this under their exclusions for cancellations:
" Claims related to any coronavirus, any epidemic, or any pandemic"
So pretty clear there's no cover for cancellation due to covid  :/
