  • I have one friend here  - we live in a small village about an hour  from the tip so, I'd be covering her fuel costs and it'd be very out of her way and quite frankly I don't see why I am left having to sort out disposing of it it's not like it's a toaster it's a very large hoover that B&Q did say twice they would collect - and exchange which was fine with me all I want is the sodding thing out of my way and a new one

They're not obliged to pick it up though, which is why you're left with disposing it.

Take it to bits and shove it in the bin piece by piece.

Or stick it outside your house with a sign that says 'For sale, £50, please put money through letterbox'.  It'll be gone before you close the front door.

This.  Piece by piece is a good idea.  Otherwise, leave it outside as suggested and if that sign doesn't work, leave another saying "free for spares/repair."
  • thank you that is all I wanted to know if they have to collect or not - would you happen to know which legislation says this or where I can find it,please

There's no legislation that says they don't have to collect it, as there's no legislation that says they do.  It'd be like having legislation that says you don't have to go swimming on a Sunday.
