Furniture sale

We bought some new furniture just before the lockdown was introduced and my wife paid the £430 deposit on her Santander credit card the furniture had a 12 week lead time but we still have not received it after 18 weeks obviously due to Covid even though the business is open to trade now the store is coming out with all sorts of excuses about delivery and we cannot get a delivery date, my question is as the furniture is for our house will the deposit still be covered by my credit card even though my wife paid the deposit as a second card holder?

Is your wife an additional cardholder on your credit card account?  If so then yes - subject to the usual S75 rules, and meeting the relevant criteria, you'll get S75 protection.  You are the account holder, it'll all be tied to your account - it makes no difference whether the primary or secondary card was used, it's just one account.
  • As I understand it if a secondary card holder uses it on anything that does not benefit the main cardholder it is not covered eg. if my wife purchased furniture on her card for her Mother and then the company went bust before the furniture was delivered the funds would not be covered.

Ah, that's different.  Yes, for S75 to be applicable, you need to have purchased something for yourself (the primary/secondary card is largely irrelevant, it's still the primary cardholders account).  If you - or your wife - purchased something for her mother then you wouldn't be covered.  But if, as per your original post, you purchased the furniture for your own house, then you'd be covered, whether the primary or secondary card was used.  Ignore which card was used - as far as the CC company is concerned, it's YOU that bought the furniture, so as it's for YOUR use then you're covered.
  • OK thanks for the help now its back to extremely unhelpful SCS furniture to try a get some sort of service!

Forget S75 nd a possible rejection.
It's a simple non receipt chargeback.
