Hermes courier left no receipt - help!

I wasn't sure which category to put this in.  Today I'd arranged my returns parcel to be collected from home which I'd handed directly to the Hermes' courier (he is also my usual Hermes parcel guy).  I'm normally good at ensuring a receipt from everything for backup proof, however this time I had simply handed this over as I assumed updated information on the app would be sufficient (also he did not consider providing me with one either, I thought that his short time back in the car was being used to create one).  Whilst checking my Hermes app, the latest update changed to 'unable to collect'.  I am slightly flabbergasted as the parcel had obviously been collected and by this point, the courier had driven away.  I've tried to contact Hermes which leads to the same automated service rather than being able to talk to an actual human.  Each time I'd input the tracking number, it leads to the same result saying this has 'been unable to be collected'.  So with no proof, it may seem that I still have the parcel and therefore would need to provide an alternative arrangement.  However, the Hermes driver has my parcel and I've no idea what happens via transit if the information on the returns form can not be accepted.

So what I've not mentioned yet is that I put the Hermes freepost returns form that was already provided with my parcel, instead of putting the Hermes return courier printout on the parcel (as I do not have a printer). I'm thinking if this had came up as an error on the courier's barcode reader, then shouldn't he had just returned this back to me straightaway?  Unless the courier would be kind enough to send this through regardless, to Hermes depot? However, I'm not sure if this messes up the system to how things are properly processed.  I'll give it about 3 weeks from now to see if a refund/return has been delivered.  Otherwise, I'm kinda doomed as I would have no proof of receipt.

So the question is, does anyone think Hermes courier would still be able to process the parcel collection with the Hermes parcelshop return form instead of the printout version?

Issue solved, Hermes still delivered my parcel and I received my refund!

Thanks for coming back to update us - and I'm glad they still delivered it OK. 
While a lot of people have bother with Hermes, I've really not had any major issues with them.
