Install phone line to new build

We are in the final stages of rebuilding our house, which involved removing the old overhead phone line to the property.
The builder has asked me to contact BT, if we want to get a new underground phone and internet connection. Our builder will dig the channel for the cables
How do I do this? Is it cheaper / easier to go through another provider?

If you were previously fed by an overhead cable, it may not be viable to change to underground. Your builder will only dig on your property, there may be work required on the street which could be very expensive.0
