Hotel Change

I booked my holiday pre-COVID. I booked a package holiday with On the Beach and the hotel we are staying at has been changed due to the original hotel not opening due to COVID-19. I don’t want to go on this holiday anymore due to this change. 

What are my rights for cancellation? I have looked around online but different sites are saying different things.

Sad to say but usually change of hotel isn’t considered enough to warrant cancellation. Check your t’s and c’s though to be sure!

Why is the hotel change such a problem?
If it’s in the same resort and same class you’re likely stuck with it, but if it’s a major change you can cancel. 

Please provide more information.

That article was written in 2011 and refers to the 1992 iteration of the package regulations!  ABTA's apparently sympathetic stance back then would appear to have been superseded by a more hardnosed position today, as per https://www.abta.com/help-and-complaints/frequently-asked-questions/my-holiday-company-has-changed-my-accommodation-can:

ABTA's advice
If the change is to accommodation within the same resort and of a similar standard as the accommodation originally booked, it won’t normally be regarded as a significant alteration.

so, depending on exactly what they mean by 'normally', it would seem likely that they'd stand by OTB's terms that define "change of accommodation to another of the same or higher standard" [in the same area] to be an insignificant change that wouldn't trigger cancellation and refund rights.
