What a horrible comment. Sometimes, you know, it's better to just say nothing at all. Is there any possibility at all that they could offer you a voucher or something so you can take a similar holiday later? Many companies are doing that. You could ask them. A similar thing happened to my friend and her husband and they have been offered a voucher for later. Not sure who they booked with though. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Lastminute.com won't offer this, they are a very unhelpful company, I tried to deal with them and their customer service is rude, I asked to escalate further and they have ignored my request to formalise a complaint.MalMonroe said:Is there any possibility at all that they could offer you a voucher or something so you can take a similar holiday later? When you say "I've cancelled my card", do you mean that you have got a new physical card on the same account or that you have closed the entire account? Because if you have a different card number on the same account they will still take the payment.atlantalace said:We have paid only 395 deposit of the 4500 balance but the balance is due on Thursday. I’ve contacted last minute who have sent me an email saying if I want to cancel that’s fine, but I’m liable for the full remainder of 4200 euros which will be debuted from my account in 8 days. I’ve cancelled my card so they can’t take it and apparently will call me if the payment can’t be taken. The question is do I pay the remaining balance and try to get it back or do I just not pay and lose the deposit- which I am more than happy to do! I just don’t want them to come after me for the full balance.
Anyway, if they 'come after you' for the balance they will of course telephone you to encourage you to pay. You can block their call or simply not answer. They would then need to use the small claims court to pursue you, and under all the circumstances it is far from certain that a judge would find against you. They must know that, and so IMHO are unlikely to take matters to court.
(Note that a county court is very different from the kind of court where criminals are tried: going to court is not something to worry about.)

If you had a Holiday Booking with LM.com and were aware your flights had been cancelled by the Airline a month before the balance was due would this maxim still apply ?bradders1983 said:Yes so you are onto a loser if you are trying to get an insurance payout if you are going to Ibiza. The whole thing is a farce, should either be both or nothing.
In any case I would never suggest to anyone not to pay balances when they are due.0 -
For an easy life I would say yes, but I appreciate not everyone has hundreds of pounds available to be tied up for a few weeks waiting for them to refund it.Butts said:

Check the posts on here with regard to LM refunds (or lack of)
If I'd paid the balance I would have had four grand tied up, as it is I am only having to chase four hundred.0 -
Nothing a chargeback wouldnt solve if it was a package. I wouldnt want them to give them any excuse not to refund me ("you didnt pay the balance before the due date" etc...)0

What if they'd sent you an e-mail a month before extending the date your balance had to be paid on, as they were looking into whether the holiday was likely to go ahead with their suppliers. This was after BA had cancelled the flights effectively terminating the package holiday.bradders1983 said:Nothing a chargeback wouldnt solve if it was a package. They also mentioned if the trip couldn't go ahead they would not take any further monies - ie the balance. Yet they were only frustrated in not taking it on the due date as I had "lost" the card they had on record and thus the attempt failed.
These are the sort of underhand tactics you are dealing with - you have to fight fire with fire !!0
