Does Checking In Void An Easyjet Refund If I Cancel ?

Check In for our Easyjet flight to Spain on 25th Aug opens this evening. The change in FCO travel advice means we're unable to check with employers whether we can take two weeks off to isolate on return.
If we check in then later choose not to fly does this void our right to a refund ?
I get that the obvious answer is just not to check in until nearer the time to see if circumstances change.
Perhaps I'm a little OCD in wanting to check in ASAP but doing this might also give Easyjet less inclination to cancel the flight if they see intention to travel.
We booked these flights a year ago.

You don't have an automatic right to a refund if you choose not to fly.  easyJet flights are non-refundable.

If easyJet cancel the flight then you'd be entitled to a refund, if you're checked in or not.  Checking in particularly early doesn't really gain you anything other than getting your seats (if you've not already paid to choose them).

My understanding is that Easyjet are offering free flight changes.

If they is something that you may want to do, you might want to check that checking in won't affect that option.
