Tesco Car Insurance: Cancelling auto-renewal

My auto-renewal happens in 1.5 hours time. I can't get through on the phone to stop it but I've sent them this https://www.tescobank.com/assets/sections/insurance/pdf/lapse-form.pdf which advises that I should ring them if I'm within 48 hours of the renewal time. I'm worried that, since their office is closed due to C19, that money will be taken.

You should never use the word cancel....a
the form states the word to use is lapse.
However why have you left it so late ?
Personally I would always allow at least a week to make sure the direct debit can be stopped in time.
The payment will probably go through so you will need to contact them somehow and as long as you can prove you have taken out cover elsewhere ( duplicated ) they should refund you minus any admin charges .

I just plain forgot about the insidious auto-renewal. I was signed up for an annual payment.
As I type, I've just received a reply from Tesco saying 'Thank you for getting in touch regarding your renewal. We're sorry that you don't wish to renew with us for another year. We will confirm your request has been processed within 3 working days via your preferred delivery method.'
So, I think now I'm covered for no charges at all.

I thought I’d cancelled Tesco auto-renewal , I’ve insured elsewhere and have not paid the fee to Tesco and they can’t collect anything. Ive received 3 emails all under the guise of support ie if I can’t afford cover from Tesco . I’ve got car insurance from the RAC , can I ignore Tesco ?0

Phone Tescos and tell them you want to cancel. There may be a charge but it will be a whole lot worse if they cancel it and you have to declare it forever.0
