Meant to be travelling to Turkey on the 7/8/2020. Booked through ON THE BEACH. Have been trying to contact them about moving my holiday or cancelling for weeks because I have asthma and not happy to travel. Last installment is due in a couple of days, should I still pay this or can I still try and claim through insurance.

"Having asthma" will not entitle you to a refund in any way, shape or form.

Disinclination to travel is not covered by insurance.  You would need to have a doctor's letter advising you were not fit to travel and have declared your asthma when you took out the policy.

And many GP's and trusts are refusing to issue travel for notes

I think you should probably accept you're not getting your money back and stay at home for your own peace of mind

As others have said, your ailments aren’t the responsibility of the airline - you’ll only be entitled to exactly the same as everyone else.

Unfortunately most companies are swamped with calls, you’ll just need to keep trying I’m afraid.

I had to wait on a call for a British based holiday for two and half hours. Our final payment was due too, but as i have M.E. and asthma and my mum is over 75 (who was coming with us) we didn't feel comfortable going anywhere. My patience paid off as Hoseasons were very approachable and we changed our booking to a date next year, honouring this years prices. Many travel businesses are being adaptable like this in order to keep the money in the business, so it might be worth persevering with the phone call and chatting to them to see if you can reschedule your break. Good luck.
  • Good to hear some positive news about Hoseasons Montysman.   Dealing with airlines is different situation though and OP is very much reliant on the flights being cancelled.  They won't look at individual requests because of medical conditions.  That is what insurance is for, although in this case seems unlikely they will have a claim plus if the balance of the holiday isn't paid then OP could lose a lot of money.   So OP think carefully about your decision and choose your preference.   Sorry if I sound unsympathetic, I am not but it is just the way it is.
