ING Direct

Options
I have just had the most hideous experience with ING.

Last week I went to transfer some of my money into another bank account, which should have arrived the day before my birthday. (saturday)

Instead of ING depositing the amount into my other account, they requested the sum out of my account. A sizeable amount which not only took me over my OD limit, but resulted in my Rent cheque bouncing higher than a ball!

Furious I rang them to complain. They told me that since I made the request over the internet that they were not responsible. (Are they not an internet bank?)

The fact was that, I told them that their system did the opposite of what I requested, and that after making the request,I clicked their link which went back to my balance to make sure the amount was taken out, having seen the reduction in balance, I was confident that I completed the transaction successfully, had I not seen the reduction in balance I would have known that I did the transaction backwards, and could have cancelled it immediately.

It was during my conversation with the Call centre girl, she admitted that my money had been placed in a 'holding account' on the day of my transaction, where I further questioned that had I requested the money from the other bank, why would my money be placed in the 'holding account' not to mention Why would I be ringing her (ING) up to complain about a transaction that would have be correct?

I thanked ING for spoiling my birthday as I now was OD with no spare cash available until Monday, and causing such distress, she apologised and than stated that she could no longer comment on my account and that a 'formal complaint would be filed'.

Today I have discovered that ING has credited my account £10. This amount is only a fraction of what my other bank is going to charge me for bouncing the cheque and going over my OD. Do they really think I am going to settle for a meagre £10, when they are more than aware that it will cost me more? Not even to mention the black mark on my excellent credit rating!

They admitted verbally that the money was taken out, they have credited my account £10 within 1 business day of my complaint! with no reason given for the free money.

I think we all know that banks don't give their money away without a reason. I am so furious, cause I know when I get my statement in a few weeks, I am going to see a fee on it that no where resembles £10, I should have never been charged, all due to the incompetence of my internet bank!

Thanks for letting me vent!:)
