My first EVER clawback!

Thank you to everyone on this site, your advice gave me the courage (and knowledge) to make my first tentative attempts to get a better deal. First off I phoned the AA and told them I wanted to cancel my membership, the very nice man on the phone offered me a discount and following advice from here I said 'No!' and reminded him how long I've been a loyal customer. He then offered me a bigger discount, which I accepted. So instead of my membership going up £2 on last years charge, it's gone down by £10.50. :j
I then rang Halifax bank to ask about a charge on my account, my first complaint being I hadn't been notified and secondly I didn't know what it was for (obviously as they hadn't told me!). Tried to tell me it was for going over my overdraft (by £1.37, grr! ) but I had already been charged £30 for that, then they said it was because there were insufficient funds to cover that charge, which I knew was a lie because I was looking at my account online as I spoke to them. Eventually was told they would repay the £28 charge as a goodwill gesture. Obviously I said yes but said I didn't see how it was a goodwill gesture to repay a charge that shouldn't have been made at all. Now am fuming with Halifax and off to hunt out a new bank account (any recommendations gratefully received). I'll get my Halifax account in the black and keep it open though, in case I can reclaim all my charges after OFT test case.
Thank you again to everyone for your advice and especially to Martin and the mods for such a brilliant site, keep up the good work x :T :T :T

I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it - Evelyn Beatrice Hall
