Paying in a cheque with the wrong name

hi
Do you know if I will have any issues paying in a cheque: My first name has been abreviated.
I'll give you a false name as I don't want to identify myself but same error the N is missing.
Mr Steven Clarke is the name on the bank but the cheque is to Steve Clarke.

It may go in, it may not. It depends how pedantic the person dealing with it is. Only way to find out is to pay it in.1

I have in the past paid in cheques with similar minor variations and never any issues.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

If they accept it in Branch does that mean then its fine or could it get stopped further down the line. And in each scenario will I get the cheque back to at least try with another bank?bradders1983 said:It may go in, it may not. It depends how pedantic the person dealing with it is. I just know its going to be a huge hassle getting the company to reissue another cheque.0 -
If it is accepted in branch 100% it will be ok for the name and you just have to wait the 48 hours for it to clear.Fender4 said:
