Hi everyone, hope you are all well and have been safe during this pandemic.
i received a parking ticket from regent parking for going into their car park and leaving 10 minutes later because some man in a van blocked me in as i went to the end to turn my car around. When i got the ticket, i gave them my address- as my dad is the registered keeper and i wrote an appeal explaining the situation about being blocked in (my mind was in a total mess at the time due to the stress and worry of the corona virus AND it slipped out of my mind not to give them my address).  I then didn't receive any correspondence to say they have rejected my claim or anything or telling me that that my £60 fine still stands. So i assumed they haven't dealt with it due to the corona or that its been cancelled. So a few months went by, and then a few days ago i got a letter  in the post telling me i need to pay the full fine and that CSB solicitors have been assigned to prepare for legal action. that i should pay the fine within 14 days of the letter which is dated 16th July. i only got it on the 22nd?!

I'm not sure what i do now?
could someone guide me please?

oh i also went onto the Appeals service to appeal online just now, but it said its too old, received out of time, and to contact the operator- how??

A 14-day deadline is a debt collector letter - ignore it. But it doesn't mean it will go away. Read about debt collectors in the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, fourth post.

If you receive a formal Letter of Claim (giving you 30 days to respond) or a court claim from the Northampton CCBC, come back on this thread after you have read the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, second post - all about court proceedings.

Did you read the NEWBIES thread before posting?   The 3rd post there is all about POPLA and IAS stage.

Are they a BPA member offering POPLA?  (please don't say you don't know, the papework tells you).

So what really - is it a Letter before claim (LBC)?

NEWBIES thread tells you all about that, to, and how to win in court if they try.  No risk.

No asking for a link to the NEWBIES thread (people who ask just haven't bothered to read my signature below or click on the forum's linked 'breadcrumb trail' - top of every page...).

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP., it can cause the scammer extra costs, and in some cases, cancellation.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up later this year,

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these companies, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

I did read it, but a lot if it didn't make sense to me. I struggled to understand it fully.

Bpa offering popla? Ill check. I only have two letters  one is the fine. The other is the solicitors letter. I'll have a look on them to find out.

Thank you for your help. Will go through the newbies thread again.
Some of the replies have helped me make more sense of it.

    Thank you

No , not BPA offering popla , but is it a BPA member (not the BPA) offering popla , check for the company name in the BPA AOS member list

There is no fine , it's an invoice demanding money , a parking charge notice , no fine was or can be issued , just an invoice , you will not find the legal term FINE on any of the paperwork

Regent Parking (a Trading Style of Solution Labs) is an IPC AOS operator, so POPLA is not available.
