Loveholidays ATOL hol / easyjet refund

We booked a loveholidays ATOL protected package deal (hotel, transfers & flights) back in Dec 19 for a mid July trip to France.  Loveholidays booked the flights through EasyJet.
Easyjet cancelled the outward trip from Edinburgh to France a couple of weeks ago and we informed Loveholidays via their online booking management webpage.  The inward flight from Paris to Edinburgh still ran last week (Obviously we weren't on it)
Loveholidays then cancelled the holiday and we requested a refund.  We received an email from Loveholidays yesterday to say they would be refunding our hotel and transfers but we would have to pursue the Easyjet refund ourselves!!  
So far Easyjet have refunded us £38 of a £1089 flight costs!!  - we have not contacted Easyjet about any flight refunds yet
The Easyjet flights (out and back) were booked under 1 booking - so I would expect a full refund
The Loveholiday booking was for a package deal holiday and is ATOL protected - So I would expect then to persue Easyjet for a refund!  Also, on Easyjet's website they are saying if you booked through a online travel agent etc - then any refund request must come through them ... Of course I can't contact Love holidays as all their comms lines are switched off at the mo :-(
Looking for some advice about what I should do next and if I should be initiating the refund with EasyJet - thanks

  • Going by the rules of a package holiday and you have an ATOL certificate which states package holiday then Love Holidays are supposedly responsible for refunding the entire holiday if one or more components are cancelled by the operators.   Having said that, it doesn't seem to be working out that way and Love Holidays are asking customers to request refunds from the airlines which are then sent to Love Holidays?    Have you checked on the your account on the Easy Jet website?   Are you able to request a refund there?    If so request it.   They will probably tell you Love Holidays have to refund it to you but if that's what it takes then that's what it takes.   Maybe they won't refund Love Holidays until they get a request from you?    I have no idea other than knowing daughter had to do same.   

    I am wondering if others have any idea why people are having to do this for package holidays?    I can understand if it is because LH don't have the cash to refund if they don't get it from the airlines but I don't understand why they can't request it in first place?

    Testing times sure enough!
