Cancelled Holiday - should I get an admin fee refunded ?

Hi, just want some advice, we had a holiday booked in April 2020 to Tenerife, but my husband had an important hospital appointment so we paid £200 and moved the holiday to Madeira in October 2020.  TUI contacted us last week stating the flight had been cancelled to Madeira and the hotel was no longer available.   We have decided to have a refund as my husband has a heart condition and we don't feel comfortable going next year.  Should I be able to get the £200 back ?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

No, afraid not. The £200 administration fee to move the holiday was done and completed.
  • Hi
looking for some advice we had a 3 week holiday booked in Newquay Cornwall
we had to cancel 9 days before the start of our holiday because my wife had a accident.
I phoned the manager of the B&B to cancel and found him very aggressive demanding payment including our £500 deposit. We have insurance so hopefully this is not a problem.
I have% recently checked on their website and found they have sold two of our 3weeks.
Should we inform our insurance company as I have spoken the the B&B owner how said it’s nothing to do with us or the insurance company. Is this illegal as I believe the is profiteering, should we inform our insurance company.
    regards
    Tom

Hi tbarnacle, we are in exactly the same position with TUI.  We only have £100 xfer fee and it looks like it has been deducted from the refund.  I have resigned myself to writing it off, along with the cost of the xfer flights.
I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!

I would make a claim on your holiday insurance.

I would not get too involved ,you do not know if they have let the weeks for less money to try and survive as a business ,claim your loss on your insurance and walk away.
