Laptop extended warranty

I want to buy an extended warranty for a laptop. A previous laptop I had lasted for exactly 13 months, and broke conveniently just after the manufacturer's warranty had expired, so I want to make sure I'm covered if this happens again.

The Dell warranty is extremely expensive, and seems more appropriate for business use as it covers a lot more than I want.  All I want is something to be covered in case the laptop stops working. I don't need accidental damage as I'm covered by home insurance.

I've been looking around and came across Compucover. Anyone used them?
I found a company called Simplesurance, but they have really bad reviews (probably because their prices are extremely low)/
Any other suggestions?

Big but here  your Warranty is one thing but your Consumer Rights  in theory give you far longer . in law up to 6 years to pursue a claim .
Month 13/14 it may well have been worth going down the Consumer Rights route against the vendor .
Personal opinion extended warranty from outside the manufacturer no never .
manufacturers extended warranty no not unless a very reasonable price .

Unfortunately, I can't turn the clock back a number of years! I'm starting where I am now, and want to learn from experience. I would like to extend the warranty - hopefully I'll never need to use it, but I want it there just in case I do.
The problem with the Dell warranty is that it covers online support, telephone support, onsite repairs anywhere in the world and a lot of stuff I really don't need. It's very expensive.

Other companies do sell standalone warranties - has anyone ever tried one, and can make recommendations about a decent company?  Anyone tried Compucover?

Neither of those companies get particularly good reviews on trustpilot.  One I have heard people talk about, but I have no personal experience with, is protectyourbubble - you could try them for a quote (you can even get cashback through Quidco - they also have other gadget insurers in there).  Have you tried your own household insurance to see if they offer a suitable policy?  What sort of price are Dell wanting?
I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!

Dell wants £118.43 for 1 extra year and £165.88 for 2 extra years for their basic extended warranty. It covers all sorts of things that I don't want.

I have accidental damage on my own household insurance via Saga, but I'm specifically looking for a product that will cover me for repairs after the 1 year manufacturer's warranty. I'll check with my insurance company, but I'm not sure they would do this type of product. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Have you looked at John Lewis for a suitable laptop?
They offer a 2 year guarantee at a minimum and I believe that it's 3 years for Apple Macbooks.

I've just noticed that the OP has already purchased their laptop so what I posted above won't be of any use to them.

I paid Lenovo via Digital River, £50 to extend my warranty to a three year on-site.
My laptop is of similar spec to the laptop you are considering.
