Teletext Holiday - what should I do?

Hi,
I have a package holiday booked with Teletext for October to Dominican Republic. I initially put down a £100 deposit. I am due to pay the remainder £2300 on 01/08/2020.
I am a bit nervous to travel in October as Dominican Republic is still on the list of countries where you have to isolate for 14 days and my partner won’t be paid for this.

I called up hoping I could just cancel and lose my deposit (as currently the flight and hotel are still active) but they want £1700 plus the deposit to cancel - I thought this was ridiculous! It is still over 2 months to my holiday, is this right?
They also offered the option of rearranging until next year but they want anywhere in the region of £300 to £600 to do this - dependent on dates.
My final option is pay the full amount, wait and hope it’s cancelled. But Dominican Republic have opened up to tourism again. But I don’t like the idea of curfews and wearing a mask in public places - it won’t be our dream holiday.
Any advice please!??

Another toughie. Lots of people finding it hard to make decisions now countries are opening up.
Firstly you will need to look at the terms and agreements of teletext for cancellation charges (under 3 months is very near to departure date in their world so chances are the cancellation fees will be high)
Secondly in Coronavirus world it is a long way off and anything can happen between now and October. (e.g. everything more or less back to normal or a second spike)
Not an easy choice but you will have to decide your preference.
Pay the balance and wait for news
Cancel now and lose whatever the t's and c's dictate
Pay extra to transfer to next year (but is the price quoted just the transfer cost, would you need to pay the increased cost of the holiday in addition? Something to look at)
I know what I would do but am the eternal optimist so I would pay the balance (as I have costed for this anyway) and go if all running. People are assuming holidays will be hell but I think they will just be different.0
