Hi Guys,
My Dad passed away suddenly recently and I am sorting through his paperwork. There was no will and my Dad was divorced and I am the only child. I have come across a document in his personal belongings with Black Horse Financial Services for an income protection plan, originally taken out in 1995. I have a policy number but the number on the paperwork is not valid. Could anyone advise who Black Horse are now owned by and who to contact?

Appreciate any help or advice in contacting the right people.
Thank you.

You might want to read the policy before going any further. An income protection policy is unlikely to have any value once the policyholder has died, because it only pays out (as the name suggests) where the policyholder's income ceases as a result of redundancy, ill health or similar. The policy normally lapses automatically on the earlier of the retirement age specified in the policy, or on death.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0

Black Horse is probably now Scottish Widows via Lloyds. But as per Marcon, unless your document specifically indicates otherwise, the policy probably has no value and you can bin the document.
