Need Some Advice

Were booked on a weeks holiday to Greece to attend a wedding on the 12th of August, all other guests bar us have had their flights cancelled 2 weeks ago, they fly with different airlines.

We were hoping our flights would also be cancelled and it would kinda sort itself out, unfortunately 2 weeks have gone by and no cancellation, I phoned Easy Jet they tell me if our flight is going to be cancelled we will find out 14 days before departure, this is conveniently on the exact same day the final payment of £1800 comes out for the rest of the holiday.

So I'm looking for options, where would I stand if I put a stop on the final payment of £1800, just to see if these flight are cancelled, it seems awfully convenient that easy jet give 14 days notice, and the final payment is on the exact same day

Other option is to cancel holiday, for which we have to pay Love Holiday £9.90 and lose the £1800 we have already payed.

We don't want to re book for another time, as we have no idea what date we would need to go

Thanks for any advice

With all due respect the package holiday company wont give a stuff if a wedding is cancelled, you are still bound by their usual cancellation terms which you can look up yourself.  At this point I imagine if you cancel you will lose the deposit at the very least.

Given that you’ve booked with LoveHolidays, there’s no relation between the 14 days easyJet are saying they’ll give notice of cancellation, and the balance due date. It’s coincidence nothing more.

easyJet flights are non-refundable so you would lose the amount you’ve paid for them if you cancel. The hotel might be cancellable with LoveHolidays, although it depends on the T&Cs of the hotel booking.

I would not recommend defaulting on the final payment as LH will likely treat that as customer cancellation and you lose the lot.

    Some thoughts:
    - can you not go anyway and have a holiday?
    - does your travel insurance cover you? Unlikely I think but might be worth checking?
    - change the easyJet flights?
    - are the flights still on sale on the easyJet website? If they are that’s a fair indication of whether it will be cancelled or not.

Also I have read there is random testing, as if selected you have to self isolate at the hotel, how can they not cancel the holiday, I don't understand??

It's not all about you :)

    Greece entry requirements

Unfortunately you are between a rock and a hard place IMHO.
Hope you have adequate travel insurance.

The chances of you going healthy and testing positive at airport is very slim.    You are better going with a positive attitude imo lol.      BUT I understand you not wanting to part with another £1800 if on same day the flights are going to be cancelled.   Difficult decision to make.    What about your hotel?  Is it open for business?    If it is and your flights going ahead  I would just pay it and go.   I am assuming £3600 would not be purely cost of flights to Greece by Easyjet?     It is a shame about the wedding but you could still have a good time if you choose to go.
