Hi All
I am off to London with work today and was staying in a hotel that charges you when you leave.
I know with this service they add a few hundred quid on Hold until you pay (For if you put anything on your room)
My question is can you insist on paying upm from.
The reason I ask is I only have £1000 on my card and the hotel is £600 and I am worried they may hold £800+ on my card which may leave me short of spending money.
Anyone any experience of doing this and will they take payment for the room up front?

It can be a real problem. And the "deposit" doesn't get repaid very quickly either. Use two cards: one for the "deposit" and another for the actual payment.
PS. Mind you, when I book a hotel room, being short of spending money is the last of my worries! The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

I think you could pay up front and they would only require the card for a deposit for any extras, or you may be able to elect not to do this. It would depend I think on what is in the rooms like mini bars etc..0
