Card fraud

Hi
It seems someone ordered a 2nd card on my Barclaycard credit card and used it for over £4000.00,. They have stopped both. But how could someone order a card...I am thinking some gang hacked into Barclaycard database.

Those 3 days before at a BWM dealer I was asked to try a 2nd machine to pay for a service as first one failed it did all seem a bit odd that.

Any views?
Krish

Not only did the gang hijack the Barclays database but they also took over the local BMW dealership. What's the world coming to.

So I guess somebody managed to change your registered address, and then set-up an additional card holder.

I believe that both those processes can be done online or over the phone - did Barclaycard tell you which it was?

If it was done online, did you fall for any phishing emails or scam phone calls - and give away your Barclaycard login credentials?

If it was done over the phone - I guess somebody found out enough about you to pass security. (Have any Barclaycard statements failed to arrive? Do you shred old statements before throwing them away?)

I am thinking you are coming up with ridiculous hypothesis to rationalise it.

Those? Anyway that would be card not present fraud if they stole the details there, which is possible. Did the card leave you hand? (say no). And how do you know it was another card. If this is correct hen it is 100% someone you know well enough that they have done that. If so then work out who is was and get rid and possibly file a police report. You may well be related by the way.

Have Barclaycard confirmed a 2nd card ordered?
If so then they need to explain how this happened, as to do so would mean your security details were breached.

Which database would they hack into?

Card being declined is not unusual. Many reasons for it.

You can easily tell if 2 cards are being used - the last 4 digits would appear on the statement.

So far I saw a 2nd card online in my account and they have stopped both.

That is something that is definitely worth reporting to Barclaycard.
