Yorkshire building society

Good evening all,
I had about £5000 in savings in Yorkshire building society. After I was furloughed I started to withdraw or transfer from the account for bills etc due to a significant salary reduction. I asked for a withdrawal yesterday of £1000 and was told it would be in today. It hadn't arrived by 4.30 so I called them. When I called they said my transfer was under investigation and they don't know how long it will take. I explained this was bill money and money for food and they just said there is nothing they can do. Does anyone have any advice on this issue?

Wait.
Unfortunately, that is all you can do while your account activity is under investigations.
Seems strange to me though if the money was already sitting there for a while prior to your withdrawals.
It is normally quick cash-in, cash-out, cash-in, cash-out flow that triggers, from other threads I have seen on a similar theme.0 -
I had a similar issue with Yorkshire Building Society over a year ago, they put my transfer request 'under investigation' also... they never did give me a reason. Took me almost 3 weeks to get my money in the end. After that I voted with my feet and won't use them again.0

Have you got a YBS Branch near you that you could call in on, with ID and a passbook if you have? Bring copies of your bills, too.
If this is to no avail, raise a formal complaint https://www.ybs.co.uk/contact-us/help-us-improve/index.html0 -
I too have had pain with YBS. I have a term deposit maturing in October and it won't be with them in November.

I have never had any trouble with Yorkshire BS and I've been with them for a number of years.0

Been with them for over 20 yrs and not had problems. Probably because the only withdrawals I have made was when Bonds and regular savers have matured.0

I've had the savings account with ATM card for years - it also has on line withdrawal to a nominated account which I use from time to time - never any problems.
No problems with RS either.

I've used YBS for cash recycling, and not had any issues.0

I've had the same problem twice with YBS, for no reason known to me. After one week I went into their complaints process and got some compensation in the end. I don't use them much now, also because their standard payment timeline is 'next day', not 'same day' as several peers, e.g. Principality BS.0
