Furlough

My wife is a hairdresser and has been back at work since the 4th July. This week at a staff meeting her boss said that Boris was paying their wages still. When the rest of the  staff challenged on this saying that they were no longer furloughed and back at work the boss claimed up. What's the best course of action if her wage due on the 1st of August is still 80%? Thanks in advance.

I don’t think Boris was personally paying her.

That would be illegal, if they are still claiming furlough when you're back at work.

    Contact HMRC.

Once she returned back to work, surely your wife is back to 100% wages.
Maybe the employer meant the wages are being covered by the premises grant if that was not all burnt through rather than the furlough?  Unless your wife has certainty on what has or has not happened, it is not really her business to know.  If she reports the company to HMRC, then it may end up coming back on her...

Can you help, my last furlough pay was the wk ending the 5th of july, I sent in a letter giving my notice (1 wk as I have only been in the job 10 months) notice was 13th to the 20th of july, I started new job on the 20th, but have been told I'm not entitled to furlough from 5th to 20th

Should be a new thread, but if you did not get furlough until the end of your notice period, you should get full pay instead...
