Need help please! Am I entitled to furlough?

Hi, I am new here so sorry if have posted in the wrong area.
I need some advise really and any help would be greatly appreciated  :)
I have tried too look up myself but am getting really confused.

So in my previous job I was off sick due to anxiety/stress for around 4 weeks. On the 9th March 2020 I emailed to hand in my notice starting immediatly as the stress was too much and for various other reasons.

I looked for another job and was offered a new job with a start date of 6th April 2020, I received a letter of offer of employment and also completed several hours of online training(health and safety stuff etc) Obviously due to the coronavirus I was unable to start. I received an email advising this and was told they couldnt advise of a start date.
I am still waiting but am not getting anything back from them.

I am struggling now as not receiving any money at all. My partner thankfully is still working and we can just about manage but is still difficult. We moved into a new house around this time aswell so not easy with having to pay mortgage etc!

I really want to start my new job but feel frustrated that I cant =-(
So...am i entitled to any help from government or furlough scheme? I do not want to appear cheeky but any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Many thanks
S

The boat has well and truly sailed I'm afraid.
You may be entitled to claim UC

You might have been able to be furloughed by your old employer, but it is too late now as you would have had to be furloughed by 10 June. Your new employer cannot furlough you as you were not on their payroll at 19 March 2020. In any event, nobody is entitled to furlough.

All you can do is keep in touch with your new employer, and check whether you might be entitled to benefits. Presumably you took advantage of the mortgage break?

No was ever entitled to furlough - it was always discretionary at the option of the employer.
Either way, it's too late now anyway as the scheme is closed.

    @jimkelly An actual #excluded person!
Due to the timing and the circumstances I am afraid that your options are exhausted, your previous employer may well have been able to furlough you but as you didn't ask them at the time (before June) this is not possible, your current "employer" has given you an offer letter but you are not under contract so this is a non starter.  I am sorry to say but your options at this point are limited to benefits and/or finding a new employer. I suggest you contact your new employer, is the offer likely to materialise into a start date and when, if not then you must look at UC or find alternative employment.  I am sorry about your situation, but it is too late to look at Furlough as an option.

It's almost 5 months and only now you've decided to make enquiries about this, why? As others have stated look at claiming Universal Credit. Use a benefits calculator.
