Grass improver and weed killer

With the feel of autumn already and the garden sort of made, soon I can work on the lawn.
Can anyone recommend a weed and feed for it?
It's 90% Selfheal/dandylion/clover and grass with a bit of various others. I don't want it perfect but I would like to have more green grass.
I've tried weeding by hand but it's not working. I started with targetting individual weeds but that's not working either. I just want more grass than weeds/wildflowers and haven't done this for years. Used Lawn Sand decades ago but the current stuff seems to kill everything. Used a paint on gel and gel stick but they are now outlawed. So it seems to be the packet stuff. Small lawn constantly visible.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

  • Weed and feeds are ok but don't really do a good job on the weeds. Use a selective weedkiller,  these work exceptionally well on 99% of lawn weeds leaving the grass in tact  then apply a seperate lawn fertiliser.

Thank you gardener. That's interesting to know.
Would someone suggest a selective weed killer? That's the most important part that can cause problems, feed is likely to be straightforward.

  • Weedol lawn weedkiller is really very good, you might wonder why you hadn't used it before. You dont need a lot of concentrate, selective weedkillers use a very low ratio of concentrate to water...check the instructions but something like 15ml to 5 litres of water...it goes a long way You can also use it for weeds around the garden especially near the lawn but remember it doesn't kill grass!

    That's brilliant. Thank you Gardener.
I haven't used it before because I've only had the house for 18mts. No garden just grass and it was completely weed free. Even the grass didn't grow so presumably it had been treated.. A blessing when you have a whole garden to create. Now I have wall to wall weeds and brown seed heads and dandelions visible across my patio windows!

  • Last year we used Preen One LawnCare and it's good for lawns where weeds are already growing. It's bright green, absorbs water well. It also kills most broad leafs and plants, so keep it away from your garden. You should spread weed & feed on damp/wet grass and no rain should be expected at least for 2 days. For us the hardest thing was to choose a good trimmer because the most we tried, dried-out or broke very fast. Now we have nylon Anleolife Trimmer Line and happy with it so far. If you're planning to buy ine, make sure the line will fit on your trimmer head.
One more thing: if you have pets, keep them off the lawn until the first drenching rain after application because of chemicals used in lawn
People say nothing is impossible, but we do nothing every day.

By the way, I won't recommend you to buy cheap trimmer lines because they break very fast. For example, we bought Echo Silent Spiral, Denzel, nd Decker and they all were bad enought to get tangled or break. So we started to looking for good trimmer lines that won't break so fast, I found lots of articles with pros and cons of different kind of lines. One of the suggestions there was Anleolife, which my father also used, so we bought it. In the description says its square shape allows the user to do heavy-duty tasks around the house. Anyway, you can find info about trimmer lines and read more about its quality, pros and cons.

Well i can say them choosen method worked brilliantly.
My lawns are thick and green, now the envy of my neighbours.
The downside of a thick green luscious lawn is that it is really hard to mow and twice as many lawn clippings!
