Mobile contract during DRO

Options
Hello. My DRO ends in 2 weeks. My mobile contract provider has told me that my account is due for an upgrade. My contract (tariff and device) was allowed to continue as payments were up to date. My phone is really knackered and I use it to study, but I am not sure if this will affect the DRO. If I cannot upgrade now, is there an issue doing it 2 weeks when the DRO ends? Thanks!

    It won't affect the DRO

Whether the DRO will affect it is a question for your provider. If they have contacted you with  an offer then I'm assuming they are happy for you to continue with them.

In 2 weeks - remember to go online to the insolvency register and save a copy of the entry showing your DRO  completed. It only stays there for 3 months.

Thank you! They seem happy with me to continue. I've never missed a payment. I was just worried that the device would be considered an asset. I don't want to get the DRO revoked as I am almost there and have really been getting life in order this past year. I basically want the newer version of the same phone, but it seems prices have gone up a bit in 2 years and my contract will be about £8 more a month.

The only changes you need to notify the DRO unit about, are those that affect your income/expenditure etc.
This is not an issue they would need to know about.

I had no issues upgrading with mine (Three), however I was always up to date with payments anyway.

The device would not be considered an asset, no. It is of comparative minimal value, they are only interested in pricey assets like expensive jewellery and cars.
  • Thank you, both!
