Revolut requesting new Proof of ID

Received a strange request from Revolut for a new proof of ID ?
Had the account for 2 years plus & supplies ID when it was opened but states that “regulations change” & new ID is required.
Anybody know reasons ? What is going on ? Data loss ?
Reticent to supply again ..

Sure this is really from Revolut? A lot of spoofed text messages have been sent out in their name in recent months.0

It is an email - looks legit plus requested through Revolut App also
But I am asking myself same question 👍0 -
I'd get in touch with them directly (via a known safe contact method such as the phone number on their website) asking them to confirm if this was a legitimate request and why they require the information, considering you have already provided them with the information in the past. There shouldn't be a need to re-verify as far as I know...0

Yes - that is plan
my question was really to see if this was to a broad group of Revolut account holders or just me ...0 -
yes i got the same email and a message within the app back in april i did as requested and sent it.
I do hope this won't come back to bite me in the !!!!!! but i do believe mine was a genuine request as i think i had to upload it via the revolut app. Keep us updated please0 -
It's pretty normal. Banks occasionally need to recheck customer's identities for one reason or another, especially the online banks / payment platforms where the initial identity verification steps are less rigorous. As the regulator would put it, 'know your customer' is an ongoing process, not a one time event.
Just provide the information they need through a secure platform, ideally in-app.0 -
The 5th money laundering directive recently came into play. If they found someone that didnt meet the requirements (missing docs, never asked for etc) then they would be required to ask for it. Or a transaction that never required a certain level of ID previously but does now. The 4th money laundering directive, for example, brought withdrawals under the regulations and not just deposits.
