Florida 2021

Hi all,
Before the pandemic we had been saving to go to Florida in April 2021 for my kids as they are the perfect age now. We now have everything we need saved and are ready to book but for obvious reasons I have been put off and continue to be put off by the way things are going in the US. I was going to book everything (flights, villa, insurance) separately on a credit card and then pay it off instantly to get that extra cover as everything would be within the £ values it covers. Aside from the obvious risks of getting the virus and a company going bust and us having to re-book an element of our trip, I just wanted to get some opinions on whether I should book now. I know some will say "What are you thinking" and others will say "Don't put your life on hold" but I wanted to know if i'd missed anything and what others are generally feeling.

Thanks

Check what cover you can get for travel to the USA.  With the current state of Covid19 out there at present you may struggle to get any cover which includes anything Covid related, and the insurance cost may be very high.  A credit card won't protect you against medical costs but will potentially provide cover if the airline or accommodation is not available.  It will not help if you decide after booking that you simply no longer feel comfortable going but the airline is flying and the accommodation is available.
Disney in Florida has, or had, reopened despite the rapidly escalating number of cases in that state.

That last bit about deciding not to go even if the flights are operating and the hotel and parks are open would make me hang fire from booking now.
The thing is we just don't know if there will be a second wave or whether an effective vaccine will be in place or even if the U.S. borders will be open to us.
I appreciate as a family that you want to book now to get everything in place - up to you if it was me I would not book at the moment.
