Working Tax Credit, 28 weeks sickness absence on ESA, 4 week run on?

Options
I get legacy Income Related ESA.  I also get WTC as self-employed (with disability elements) as well as PIP.  I have been claiming ESA since January this year and received WTC for the first 28 weeks (which is deducted from my ESA payments by the DWP).   The first 28 weeks of sickness absence expired last week and I notified HMRC Tax Credit Office, as required, so that my WTC claim will now end.  I am assuming I will get a 4 week run of WTC payments.  Is that correct?  If not, I will need to notify the DWP so that my ESA payments are adjusted to remove the deductions of WTC payments as 'other household income'.  Thank you for any advice/clarification on this.

I don't think you get the 4 week run on after a 28 week period of sickness. The four week run on is from a period when you were in work. During the 28 weeks you're treated as in work but were not actually in work.
I think the best thing is to try and speak to HMRC to confirm exactly when the WTC payments will stop.

Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

    Hi Calcotti,
Thank you for your help.  I managed to find an answer today from HMRC about this and they confirmed my WTC payments have stopped and I won't receive the 4 week run on after 28 weeks sickness absence, as you said.

I need to speak to the DWP, ESA helpline tomorrow and also write to them to tell them so that they adjust their future payments to me so as not to deduct any amounts for WTC weekly payments after the date my 28 week run on ended.
