Seller's Estate Agent doesn't like my Conveyancer

I had an estate agent in the past try and persuade me not to use a bad solicitor. I explained that I would constantly chase them and keep on top of it to reassure them, which worked.
I decided to pay a bit more this time round to use a more credible company, well worth it. Out of interest how much are they charging you?0 -
You'll never really know - it could be they're angling towards suggesting their own 'recommended' solicitor who will give the agent a kickback. It could be they have previous experience with the solicitor and they're too thorough, thus delaying the sale (though for good reason). It could be they have previous experience with the solicitor and they're too overworked / robotic, and unable to use common sense on what are pertinent issues vs what are not, thus delaying the sale (for no reason).
You just have to decide whether you're confident in your solicitor (one annecdotal experience isn't everything, they may have had an easy purchase). Its likely not really 'too far along' but you don't HAVE to reconsider either. Up to you.0 -
Claret, are there any reasons to suspect it might be a tricky sale? Old house, strange boundaries, covenants, stuff like that? Or is it a relatively 'new build', in an established and popular estate or area?0

Agree that one anecdote alone doesn't paint the whole picture. That plus (on the whole) good reviews and a competitive quote were good enough for us. Here's hoping!0 -

It is a 1930s semi, popular area (this is the second property on the street to sell within a week of listing just this month).
From what we know, no complications. There is also no chain as we are FTBs and the seller is moving to a second home.0 -

I used Premier Property Lawyers (estate agent branded) and they were fine for me, but it probably depends on who's handling your case. The one handling ours did a good job and nothing went wrong with them, but I can imagine others wouldn't be so good.1
