Sky Talk - receiving calls intermittently

My parents told me that they can't ring me on my landline and took them four times to get through. One time, it cut off and the other times there was an American voice saying that the call cannot continue. I can ring out and broadband - no issues there.

When I ring Sky, they keep saying to go online to rectify the problem which doesn't and can't speak to anyone due to the current situation.

Is your phone number one supplied by Sky , or was the number ported into the Sky network from someone else ?,are your parents using their landline or mobile to call you, if a landline , who provides their landline service ?
Quite often missing incoming calls are down to messed up number porting , but I don’t think it will be the case here, as your parents eventually got thorough ( unless they got through using a different method like mobile instead of landline )

Are you with sky on their "digital voice" system - which is a VOIP system - calls provided via the internet - with your landline plugged into the sky router? Or are on "standard" phone line into the BT socket system?   

Have you tried phoning your own number from a mobile, and see what happens?
