EDF Energy - confused
Hi all,
I have 70 days left on my tariff with them. I want to swap to another provider. On their website it says I can switch if within three months of my contract ending. So I think I'm safe to switch and not incur an exit fee. However, I've seen a few posts on the main site here that says within 50 days. Can't get hold of EDF, whatsapp or text!
Any advice would be welcome. I want to lock in a better deal before prices go up further!

Its 49 days - you'll get an email.
Time to get the info together - actual annual consumption.
Try a dummy run with CAB and see what comes up.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
This is what it says on their website.
You need to pay your tariff's exit fee if you cancel your tariff with more than three months to go on your contract.
You don't have to pay the exit fee if your tariff is due to end within the next three months, or if you cancel within the 14-day cooling off period when you first sign up.
Not all tariffs have an exit fee. Dual fuel tariffs have one exit fee for electricity and one for gas.

The industry rule is 49 days before expiry of the current tariff - EDF can change this to more days, but having had previous dealings with EDF I'd stick with the 49 day ruleAs Robin 9 advises, do your homework starting with a visit to the CAB comparison web-site where you are very likely to find a much cheaper EDF tariff than anything they offer you on their website0
