After holding credit cards for 20 years,

We have never had any fraud comitted on them..

However, we applied for a Halifax CC in sept, purely to use while we were away in USA on holiday. We used it a few times, but noticed one item which wasn't bought by us. At the same time we were in USA, someone bought £490 worth of car audio in Nottingham. We rang the CC company and they confirmed that the car had NOT been present for this transaction. They told us they would investigate, but then we received a letter from the CCC, telling us that in the first instance, we needed to contact the car audio company and they supplied us with a phone number. DH rang, and it said 'Number not recognised, please re-dial'.

This morning, another statement arrived, so I checked it carefully. There seems to be ANOTHER rogue description which I've googled and it seems to be CC fraud. It is described as IPAY-FRIENDFINDER, and the country/state is listed as KNA.

It seems really strange that after never having ANY problem with credit cards in the past, we have 2 items we are disputing within 2 months.

Has anyone heard of IPAY-FRIENDFINDER before?

MANY thanks,

Sally

  • HHm, not something either DH or I would have signed up for! Especially as we were in the air flying from San Francisco - Chicago, then Chicago - Manchester for around 12 hours on the day it was supposed to have been bought!!

I too did a search, and there seem to be quite a few threads dotted about the net about CC fraud due to this 'company'.

DH has been onto the CCC this morning asking just exactly what should we say to the Audio company, and there's no way he would have given them our address for them to write to us, as then they'd have our cc details AND our address.

I have rung him to tell him about this new item, and he was going to phone them again this afternoon if he found time, otherwise, he'll do it when he gets home.

He was going to cancel the card and ask for another one.

  • DH managed to phone the Audio place yesterday and spoke to a guy. Apparently the order hasn't been shipped yet as the address given wasn't registered to our CC. He told us to ask the Halifax for a 'Chargeback'.

With regards to the 2nd item, the Halifax are sending another dispute form for us to fill in.

Why is the CCC asking you to phone around ? Surely they have a fraud department who should be doing this.

All you should be required to do, is sign a form confirming that the rough transactions are not yours.

I've had 2 cards in past 12 months fraudulently used - Mint and GE Money. In both cases, a phone call to/from the CCC and returned signed form was all that was needed.
  • I dont know why they are asking. All we know is we reported the first case and they sent a form for us to fill in. We did this, and sent it back. They then wrote to us saying that in the first instance, we need to speak to the Car Audio place.

  • I have just found out that these con artists have taken £133.00 off me and i have never even registered with them, I also have a bill of £39.99 from click and buy and another payment to Girls date free for £39.99 all transactions were done between 1.00am and 5.00am on saturday morning. The bank cant even tell me what the "click and buy" payment was for !! and i certainly can not tell them because i have no idea about the transaction. tThe Ipay friendfinder was taken in usd and then i was charged for the transaction to be changed into GBP, I have no idea how they got my details and I dont own a credit card just a debit card, but as the other lady has put I am also with the Halifax, is this just some scam that is related to the Halifax ? I have informed my bank and it is with the fraud department now, but at one point I started to doubt my own sanity !! Anyone else out there dealing with this ? I am assuming the click and buy transaction might have something to do with car parts as you have all said about this but I cant find out yet, and as a woman if "girls date free.com" how come I joined without knowing (even though i'm happily married) and got charged £39.99 ???
