Refused quote for named driver
Options
I have recently contacted my insurance company to add my son to my policy but was informed that the underwriters declined to quote. Is this something that he now needs to declare as having been refused insurance for all future quotes? Don't want to try other options if being declined in this way is taken into account. Thanks

No he does not need to declare it. Your son does not fit within their chosen underwriting criteria, could be due to age (saga limit this), previous claims or previous convictions. They have not refused insurance they have simply declined to quote.0

And of course your son has not been refused anything at all - you have.0

If it helps at all my insurance declined to renew my policy when I made a vehicle change (they did accept the bike change with only 5 weeks to run gaining me another years NCB so fair enough I guess) which I must admit surprised me a tad. However after thinking about it I concluded they just didn't have any specialist 'Hyper bike' insurers on their panel. I shopped around and actually got a cheaper quote via a new insurer so did me a favour declining renewal. Shop around it's the only way these days.0
