O/S Daily Wednesday 22 July 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy overcast start to the day here - I have a wash load to peg out on the line, which I'll do in a mo.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was med chicken which I served with vegetable rice - very nice it was too. Tonight will be gammon, egg and either new potatoes or chips.
Today is the first work day of lock down now starting to be lifted and our working practices changing - I was expecting that the management would have put in an appearance yesterday but they didn't and I didn't hear from them either. I'm hoping the PPE that is required they have organised as we don't have it and they were told. It was all supposed to be announced with press releases and it doesn't seem to have been - we'll see. I only have to work today then I'm on days' off until Monday - hopefully by then they'll have it more organised - I can hope!
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I hope management soon get you all sorted out and protected. Cloudy and overcast here and to remain so according to forecast.
Had a lovely garden rendezvous yesterday afternoon with my best mate and we also invited our other bus buddy to join us too. I had wine chilling and they each brought a bottle too!! It would have been too easy to get carried away whilst we were chatting, reminiscing, having a few laughs and looking forward to better times. It was a lovely afternoon despite the clouds hovering above!
Today off over to the caravan with DD and girls to start transferring contents of the van into the awning and putting chairs and tables etc back together again. Then clean the van out. First job must be getting the loo filled up with the toilet and shower block remaining closed up! That's a priority! It's going to be a long day so provisions will be getting packed next to sustain us throughout the day.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all who need them. Take care one and all and stay safe xx

Morning all! Too early for sun yet, it's a late riser here..Much like me most of the time. Yesterday was not as productive as I hope but at least the fence panel will not be blowing down anywhere as i screwed it to the tree in several places. I had to dig out aorund the base to extract some concrete pieces that were obviously what the fence used to stand on, so I levelled them as best i could, hacked off a nodule of the tree that was really sticking out and a bit more of the next trunk [ there are nine altogether] the found some of my longest screws and showed that puppy who was boss. This means the next concrete post is safe from movement for a while so three panels can breathe a sigh of relief.I cut up some of the wood and stacked it in the wood store, but the majority of it is still there for todays delights. Wish I had a chainsaw...Anyway, that's on the menu today, along with identify anything else that can be rammed in the car for the tip trip tomorrow. Having sat in the car about three times in the last week [ lifts to and from] the smell is overpowering, and it's not a nice pine-y smell, it's a catch you in the back of the throat resin stink. One more day...And maybe the slabs if I get round to it...Or some slabs...Or one slab? We'll see...TA, sounds like a nie faternoon was had by all! Hope your hip gets better Marie and wb from happy holidays ME. Enjoy the never-ending coleslaw millicent and Ruby [ in our house it was soup]..Hey all readers along, hope you're doing OK, welcome to WEdnesday, a day top filled with delight [ potentially ]Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi13

Morning all.
Good luck nmlc! In my experience management are the last people to rely on. They rarely know what is going on at the business end of the work force. Their ability to make a bad situation worse is legendary. Just saying! It's a pity that no one has ever made a career out of saying, "This seems to be working well. Let's leave it alone."
It seems useless to say "Have good day," to you TA. Your plans exhaust me just reading about them. Still, you will be with your family and that will keep you going.
Here nothing much is planned for today, which is the way I like it. I will have to see what transpires and report back later.

Morning All
Quick one from me as the DGC are here and the kitchen is full of playdoh.
Lovely day yesterday, we went to a big country park with a secret forest and met up with DD, her DP and Sophie. The weather was glorious and we had a fabulous picnic and walk. Everyone suitably exhausted by the time we had finished, including me.
Sadly it's raining today but we're going out for a walk anyway as the children have both woken up annoying each other, I'm just the referee!
Hope you are all well, take care. XX12 -

Hello all, didn't get on here yesterday due to me having a great big wobble and I also didn't want to post without speaking to DD first.Mr Fix It had his oncology review via the phone yesterday which resulted in me having a downward spiral. The results were not good and it appears now that the cancer is aggressive. They will wait until it reaches a certain point and then they will discuss other treatment options with him. He remains stoical and says he will just get on as always with living day by day. " It is what it is " seems to be his mantra theses days, meanwhile I'm gliding swan like while underneath the surface I'm drowning
Strange thing is he looks well in himself and doesn't have any pain. Sorry for bringing the thread down but I'm still reeling from the results. Anyway now I have to get on with things too as nothing will happen for at least 4 months when it will be reviewed again.
The prescriptions have just arrived so no need to worry about those. DD and DGD are popping over this morning. It will be lovely to see them in person, we haven't been able to do so since they were all back to school and the phone face time thingy is not the same. The DW is on and then this afternoon I want to get in the gardening shed as I can't at present without perhaps breaking a leg. Seems that naughty elf has had a rave and messed things up in up there too !I tried to read along yesterday and today but nothing has gone into my thick skull, my apologies.Take care all, stay safe and well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently14 -
Morning all
Bright and sunny here the wm is doing its thing and will be hung out later. I need to empty the dw and clean the kitchen and lounge.
Despite going for 15 miles on my bike yesterday and then a 5 mile walk with the dogs I was still awake at 3 this morning so a late start for me, it seems to make no difference what exercise I do or what time I get up or go to bed I just cant sleep, I am going to ring the Dr today and try and get an appointment, DD's ex is rearing his ugly head again and causing trouble which is worrying me and causing no end of problems but we are on to it and its slowly getting sorted fingers crossed, I am worried about his explosive temper and threats to do something to dd or our house, the police are aware and we have a marker on the house but its still a worry.
Not sure about dinner tonight but will go and have a look after this there are bits and bobs in the freezer so we wont starve.
Mona I thought I saw something waving in the distance, I was the very red faced, slightly sweaty 50 something year old next to the bike
Right today will be a slow and steady day, have good days all xx

Morning folks. It's wet and cold here, definitely a day to huddle down with hot drinks and good books.NAN - I'm so sorry about your beloved Mr Fix-it. 😢 At least the medics are onto it and keeping an eye on him. The secondary thing is to look after yourself through the waiting time. The advice I get given is 'be kind to yourself' so I'm passing it onto you.The physio is trying to connect again this afternoon, I hope he's sorted out his technology, mine worked fine!DM didn't sleep much last night, probably because she spent most of yesterday asleep, it's a circle of difficulty. My plans, as usual are fluid 🤣 so I'll go with the flow.Hugs to those who can use them, to everyone I wish a Happy Wednesday.12
