M&S 0% card application - no reply, contact or card

Hi all,
Has anyone else applied for the 20 months 0% purchases M&S credit card recently?
I applied on Monday 6th July online, completed everything and they said application will be checked and they'd be in touch. Since, had no emails, texts or letters at all. Is this normal? I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but over 2 weeks now to set up an account and absolutely no contact is getting me worried.
For the record, I had a 95% chance of getting the card via Credit Club so fully expecting and even more so now after this wait, to be approved and receive a card sometime soon!!

Perhaps it's the 'new' normal with this Wuflu thing that's been doing the rounds. I'm sure they'll be in touch at some stage, nothing to be worried about.

You might have fallen into the 5% “not approved” category though.

It's probably about normal for M&S. When i applied last year during normal times it took over a week for the paperwork to arrive, then another week for them say they'd recieved it, then over another week for the card and pin to come so by the end it had taken the best part of a month. Add this into the mix and well, good luck.

Do card companies not tell people when they are declined now?

Possible they are just delayed or it’s been posted incorrectly

HSBC (and by extension First Direct and M&S Bank) are pretty slow at getting new account set up - the fact it's been about 2 weeks and you've heard nothing is pretty standard. Presumably you'll have an application reference number so you could give them a call and ask about it if you're really concerned, otherwise give it a while longer and you'll hear something from them eventually.

Yes. But as noted above, HSBC and it’s “spin-offs” are notoriously slow at communicating

Called them today. Application accepted, credit agreement emailed and signed back to them. Told card will follow shortly. No reasonable excuse for delay.
