Using HSBC Premier Maestro Card

I am traveling in Europe for an extended period and may if my cash runs out have to use my above card. Does anyone know if this is wise so far as charges are concerned or what the specific costs of using the card are.

    It's a debit card, yes?

Then it's going to be a cost effective way of getting cash, costing no more than and maybe less than the alternatives, and certainly more convenient.

I think this is the card on which HSBC claim no overseas fees. There will still be a 2.75% exchange loading, but as cash and TCs typically cost 5%, require upfront payment and cost to change back it's still a no-brainer.

Unless you use a convenience store, etc, ATM, there will be no charge at the European end.
