Is your 8/9 kWh a day based on your ACTAUL meter readings ?

At say 15p/kWh that's about £600 / year. So a DD of £58 sounds right and you have been underpaying. I am sure that you know that the £43 you quote  is not "all you can eat"

Do some comparisons through the CAB site and see if you can pay less. The savings may balance out any penalties.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

This is usually caused by one of three things:  1) You've used more energy at home than you would normally do due to the lockdown, 2) Your direct amount was too low in the first place, or 3) you haven't provided readings for months on end, your bills are all estimates and now there is an actual reading you are now playing catch up.

As to "can't switch until my fix term is up", yes you can.

    Morning daz378,

Thanks all on the the thread for your input.

As you say you're on a fixed tariff, this means that you unit prices won't change, however, the amount you pay can change as this needs to cover the energy used.

Have a check over previous bills, have any of them been underestimated? If so please keep providing regular meter readings to keep the account up to date. Then you can use the Direct Debit manager, this will show you what we think you should be paying to ensure a zero balance at your review date. You can adjust your Direct Debit amount this way as well, you can adjust the payments by up to 20% as long as you have provided meter reads.

As Robin9 says, you can have a look through comparison sites along with our website to make sure you on the best tariff for your needs.

    Thank you
