Barclaycard Platinum 0% Balance Transfer

Hi.

I have a Barclaycard Platinum card which I don’t use. I also have a couple of other cards with balances on promotion at 0% until November 2021.

I used to get 0% balance transfer offers on my existing Barclaycard but I don’t seem to have offers anymore. I know it’s a long way off until my promotions run out on my other cards but I was wondering if using my Barclaycard each month for say food shopping and paying it off in full would trigger some new 0% promotions?

I’ve always switched balances between cards before to keep everything at 0% and am worried I’m going to be potentially stuck.

Thoughts please 💭 Many thanks

In the current climate, continuing to not use it is likely to result in a credit limit reduction or closure.

So regardless of BT offers, use it at least occasionally.

That is wise advice. Thank you. I hadn’t thought of that. I have a hefty credit limit of £13k and although I would never need or dream of using such an amount I was told
it helps with the debt utilisation on my credit reports. Not sure how true that is but I’ve just always had it and they seem to always up it periodically as well.

Once again, thanks for the reply

With the current tightening of credit due to the pandemic - you might want to focus on trying to pay the card down by throwing more at it on a monthly basis by cutting your costs a little further. Have you had a sit down to see what you're spending month on month to see if there are potential savings to be made?

For example you might be on the Sky super duper duper package at £100 a month, when you could make do with the basic package for £25 a month, or you might be on 1000000mbps broadband at £50 a month, and you could drop down to a normal broadband speed and pay £20 a month, is your mobile phone contract a big one? Could that be cut? Lots of possibilities - to save money - in doing so you could really get those balances down before the 0 percent runs out. It may be that you won't get another for quite a while depending on what happens next in the world.
