My niece is moving into a new flat and there is no power.
Usually the Housing Association take over voids and switch to their own provider, but due to pandemic they are unable to tell me what they have or have not done (in a timely manner) and there are no bills or letters from any energy companies..
Is there a way to get some emergency credit, a code or something?
it was not a payg meter before although maybe it flipped back into that as it says
VEND MODE. (with a picture of a plug that says OFF)
then REJECTED ,
then INCOMPLETE,
then PAYG,
then NO E-CRED,
then -000005.19,
then DAYS LEFT
then USING NOW
then 000004.1 kWh
then COST NOW
then -000005.14
then DAYS LEFT
then NO MONEY
We are doing cleaning and decorating plus Fridge is now defrosting
We are not sure of which energy company it is but I am hoping to find out from old tenant who we have contact with.
The HA did a lot of work and it will have been them that used the £5
If she calls her chosen energy company can she give them the readings and get it back operationa?
Does she have to have PAYG now and with the company that is current supplier ?
I can't even see a slot to top up even if I had a card from whichever supplier it is with.
Most importantly is there some code to get a few quid credit

You must contact the current electricity supplier, use the details below to do that and talk to them, once properly registered with them she can consider switching, but not before...

Is there any code to get the unit operational, even for a few quid?
Can it be topped up by buying some card somewhere?

Have you established who is the energy supplier and asked them?

I tried UK Power Networks and it does not respond to any of the numbers pressed on their automated call answering system.

I guess an Iphone is not modern enough a phone or they have disabled it due to Pandemic and Staff shortages.  It just repeats the same choices over and over again.

As far as I am concerned this is another reason to NEVER get a smart meter, under normal circumstances you might have up to 3 months to sort out your supply, now the Bar Stewards cut off your supply at £5 unless you jump through hoops, she has special needs and would never be able to cope with all this.

Sounds like your phone isn't sending the DTMF tones.  Check by calling a bank or any organisation that gives menu options, then adjust your phone accordingly or call from a payphone if you don't have a landline.
But why not find out online?

I can't believe they have pulled this stunt so quickly.
Previous Tenant was on Monthly Tariff, HA take it for the Void, New supplier makes it a Pay as you go.
I will never get a smart meter
Here you have a vulnerable person and they are treated like a thief, they will never cope with whole top up thing.

Well, forget all the shenanigans with the UK Power Networks call centre, you should now know from my link who supplies the property, so call the company and ask for an emergency top-up.  You could have sorted it all out by 3pm.
