Entitled to a refund????

My Son and a mate have booked an all-inclusive holiday to Majorca through Onthebeach. He's received an email saying that the hotel originally booked isn't opening this season due to covid, so they're booked him into a new hotel.  The thing is, the original hotel was "adults only" as they wanted a lively lads holiday. The new hotel is "family friendly" and obviously not what they want. Are they entitled to ask for a refund if another "adult only" hotel is unavailable, or do they just have to accept it?????

What do the T*C's say from OTB?

T&CS say that if a hotel becomes unavailable, they will organise a new hotel meeting the same criteria of the same or an improved standard.
The new hotel is just as nice, but it's not "adults only" ...
I've looked at contacting them on the website, but it literally just sends you round in a complete circle!

So they wanted a "Lively lads holiday" and that means staying in the hotel all the time? Things have changed since I was a lively lad. LOL. ;)

Adults only could mean they find themselves in a hotel full of OAP that don't want children there.

Are there any other "adults only" hotels in the area that would suit?
Is there a phone number for OTB or Chat\Twitter\FaceBook?
IMHO I  would find a hotel that suits and then contact OTB and tell them that's what you want as their replacement is not acceptable.

I expect contacting them will be very hard.

As you say T&C's do allow them to change hotels. Usually if it's the same official rating that will count as a minor change.

I don't think you'll be entitled to a refund. Maybe via negotiation see if any other hotels are more suitable?
  • I agree with previous, I don't think they will get a refund easily if t's and c's allow for change of hotels to same standard (they could try?)

Also agree with previous posters, please make sure that you son and his mate realise 'adults only' does not mean an 18-30 holiday.   Both the adults only hotels I've been to have been really quiet without pool entertainment and low key evening entertainment.   One was in Benidorm, the other in Majorca oh and one in Tenerife also.   Definitely wouldn't have suited young guys looking for a lively time.
