CMV - previous cruise awaiting compensation

I went on a cruise with CMV in March 2020.  It was cut slightly short due to Covid 19, and as a result they had been due to pay me just under £250.  This amount was a partial refund calculated as a percentage of the total amount I paid, and a refund of a drinks package for the days I didn't use it.  It was what they offered everyone (ie I am not special, and it's not the result of me complaining etc)

CMV have now gone into administration.  Is the money I am due covered under ABTA or ATOL as the majority of the holiday did go ahead?  I did have travel insurance, and bought my holiday on a credit card.

Basically I'm asking if I will ever get the money or if I should write it off.

Before anyone comments, I know it's not a lot and people have lost much more including jobs etc.  However it's a deposit for another holiday, so I do want to understand if I am likely to get it eventually, and if I should be pursuing my insurance or credit card rather than expecting payment from ABTA/ATOL.

It's not covered by ATOL, and pretty sure it's not covered by ABTA either.

You unfortunately are essentially a creditor of CMV.  You could fill out the form at the bottom of the page here https://www.cruiseandmaritime.com/ and send it to the Administrators.  Unfortunately though I expect that will be a complete waste of time.  Usually in situations like this, any remaining creditors might get a few pence in the pound of the debt owed, if anything at all.  Also there'll be much bigger creditors further up the list.

Your credit card is an option.  As you payed on that, Section 75, the bank are jointly liable for the transaction with CMV.  If you have proof of the compensation owed from CMV you could try a Section 75 for the amount.

Thanks a lot for your clear response.

I do have proof of the compensation - CMV sent a letter a few weeks ago confirming the amount, and the fact I would be paid in July  So I will try the credit card route.
